SURVIVING TORNADOES
The
tornado is a column of air that rotates at a great speed. It often begin as
supercell thunderstorms.
Supercell
thunderstorms develop when warm, moist air rises to meet colder, dry air which
is moving in a different direction.
Scientists
called meteorologists use radar to track thunderstorm activity. They try to
work out when a tornado will happen so that can warm people before the tornado strikes.
The
tornadoes can occur at any time or anywhere, and often with little or no waning.
Meteorologists
and people who study storms, such as Doug Dokken, suggest that everyone should
be alert to the weather. If they have greenish black, large hailstones, a continuous
rumbling or giant, low lying clouds.
