Food from the sea :
Irrigation may not be the
only way of farming dry land .Instead we could grow plants that need
very little water or that survive in difficult soils .One kind of garden beet
,for example ,can grow in water that is three-quarters sea water .We can also
learn from native ways of growing food .The Aborigines harvest wild plants in
the dry lands of Australia, while the seri Indians of Mexico grind flour from
eelgrass taken from the sea
